Creativity and New Media

A hobby of mine is creating art using adobe photoshop. With the amount of media, specifically pictures, on the internet of high quality, creating and editing pictures is easy and accessible to do. The amount of subjects is also limitless as I tend to work with various things I enjoy whether it be from video games, anime or music artists. Here are some things I created recently using adobe photoshop and stock images.

HW Creativity

With the amount of information available for our fingertips to access the amount of tools for media and content creators to use and draw from for inspiration is limitless. Compared to the past where media was limited to the amount of content you can access from books, newspapers, CDs etc., the internet has given people a large library of high quality photos, video and music all available for anyone with an smart device. With this, creativity is at an all time high with people innovating on all forms of entertainment at a fast pace. An example of this you can see is in the music scene where producers and DJ's have a plethora of music software and samples they can draw from to create there own original songs and tracks without the need of vinyl's, CD's and instruments. The article from the NYtimes, "1+1+1 = 1" by Sasha Frere-Jones explores the world of music mashups where people take two different songs and make it into one track. These mashups are highly creative...

Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

As computer rendering and video hardware/software continue to advance at a fast pace, virtual reality is steadily becoming a popular form of entertainment. Many times people view virtual reality as just video games with many virtual reality facilities opening up providing life like simulations such as driving a car or tight roping between two skyscrapers. However the applications of virtual reality is not only limited in video games as virtual simulations can be conducted in order to educate people on scenarios that may happen in the real world. In the article "Avatar II: The Hospital" by Stephanie Simon, hospitals and other health care facilities have begun implementing virtual reality emergency drills where hospital staff are set in a virtual world as there own personal avatars and simulate real life events such as an earthquake happening and have to follow the procedure of evacuation of patients in a 1 to 1 replica of the hospital. Another thing that the article emphasiz...

Blog about Twitter

Twitter and Blackboard discussions are very different things. For one Twitter is open to millions of users to view and respond unlike blackboard discussions which are only opened to the class. Another major thing that differs is the amount of text one can type in when discussing. With twitter your only limited to 140 characters to use so statements and responses have to be short and straight to the point unlike blackboard which seemingly has an unlimited character limit so people can discuss there opinion and build upon there statements with evidence and explanation. In class-discussion is also very different as with it being conducted in real life you can not only see people's opinions and statements in real time but also the emotions and tone they present it. With it being in real time as well one cannot look up information during the discussion as well as fact check it so people have to rely on of themselves on the information being said as well as taking careful note on what ot...

Social networking sites

With the rise of the internet, social media sites are at an all-time high and show no signs of stopping its growth with over millions of people around the globe posting, messaging and interacting with one another. However with all these social media sites appearing everyday one may find trouble finding the differences between each other. For many one of the most popular social media sites is Facebook which is a classic take on what people think of when they think of a social media site. Here you create a profile based on yourself and your life with filling out various aspects of work, school, etc. and upload a personal picture of yourself. From there you befriend other users and share pictures, message each other, posts thoughts and statuses, share news and overall interact with people who most of the time share there real identity on there profile.  Another social media site called Twitter functions very differently from Facebook with its main aspect relying on posting shor...

These days social networking is an integral part of our lives. From the days of only being seen as a way for teenagers and young adults to communicate and interact with each other, social media sites such as facebook, instagram, twitter and many more are being used by people of all ages to communicate with one another on a great number of smart devices across the world. As such with many people on these social media sites 24/7, corporations and businesses needed to adapt to there business plan to not only attract employees and customers on the physical level but also on the internet level with e-businesses becoming more prevalent everyday. In the article "How to Build a Community on Social Media" by Sara Lavenduski, Dave Klonke, President and CEO of a merchandise agency, uses social networking in order to promote his business to much success. Klonke explains that since his company uses a lot of promo products, the visual nature fits perfectly on instagram where he is able to...
